Hello! My name is Jessica, and I work here in the office at All My Sons in Chicago. I would love to periodically address some common concerns that you may have as well as some recommendations from our movers to help make your move easier. Moving can be a stressful experience, but when using a professional moving company such as All My Sons, you can be assured that your move will go smoothly.
To begin, I will turn my attention to some of the more miscellaneous questions we receive frequently:
-“Where is All My Sons located?” We are located in Broadview, which is just west of Berwyn off of 22nd Street/Cermak Road. One of the benefits of being in Broadview is that we are very close to the city and we have easy access to the suburbs.
-“Is All My Sons a family owned business?” Yes, we are a family owned and operated business!
-“Can All My Sons move appliances?” We will gladly move your refrigerator, deep freezer, oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer. Please be aware that the appliances need to be disconnected prior to the move and refrigerators need to be emptied of perishable items. If your appliance is connected to gas power, you will need to have a qualified technician disconnect the appliance prior to the move. Please refer to All My Son’s main website for a more detailed description of moving your appliances.
-“Does All My Sons move pianos?” Yes, we will move your piano with the utmost care. Many pianos will require at least three men to move.
-“Does All My Sons move offices?” Absolutely! We typically recommend having one of our fantastic estimators out to your office to provide you with an estimate for an office move. Estimates are free of charge. Just call our office and we will gladly set up an appointment for you.
-“Does All My Sons provide packing services?” Of course! We can come and assist you pack most of your items.
-“Does All My Sons sell boxes?” We sell boxes as well as newsprint, bubble wrap, shrink wrap, and tape.
-“Does All My Sons protect my furniture during the move?” We bring quilted pads at no extra charge to help protect your furniture.
-“Does All My Sons provide storage?” We provide secure storage in vaults that measure 5’x7’x7’ and can hold approximately 1000 pounds of goods. If you have a larger piece that would not fit into the vault such as a couch, we can still accommodate it.
-“Do I have to unpack my dresser drawers?” As long as there is nothing extremely fragile or breakable in the drawers, do not worry about it! We will quilt wrap the dresser to keep the drawers in place. If you feel more comfortable packing the items in your drawers into boxes, that is easily moved as well.
-“Can All My Sons move my fish tank?” There are two ways to answer this question. If you fish tank has been emptied, we will be very happy to assist you in moving it. However, we will not move a fish tank if it is still filled with water. A fish tank that is still full of water is nearly impossible to lift! Even a ten gallon tank is heavy, and the water will splash and spill, especially in a truck. Fish are extremely sensitive to stress and will need to be properly handled. We will ask you if you have any “specialty items” when you set up your move, such as a big screen television, exercise equipment, etc, and letting us know of a large fish tank will help us know what to anticipate and we can bring extra materials to accommodate. We take care of all items that we move with extreme care.
-“Will All My Sons move my lawn mower?” We can move a lawn mower as long as it is emptied of its gas. Lawn mowers can leak or spill gas, creating a dangerous situation on the truck and potentially ruin other items that are being moved.
This is just a short list of the common questions we receive on an average day. In later blog entries, I will address other issues and concerns, including recommendations on how to pack your belongings.
