All My Sons Chicago moves!

Don’t worry – we didn’t go far! All My Sons has relocated our facilities just a few blocks away to 25th Avenue in Broadview from 21st Street. Our old warehouse was great, and our new warehouse is even better. Although it may be slightly smaller in size, it makes for a more efficient space. Our warehouseman and dispatch team have everything highly organized and conducive to getting storage in and out quickly as well as dispatching our trucks more efficiently to you.

Our sales team has experienced a facility upgrade as well. We have opened a sales center in Plainfield that is utilizing new technology with our computer and phone systems. This means we have the ability to access your information faster to provide quotes and answer common moving questions and concerns. This new hub is a contemporary office with a tranquil atmosphere that allows our estimators and representatives the best opportunity to serve you.

We are very excited with our transition into our new facilities. We think that you will notice the difference too! All My Sons has always been a premier Chicagoland moving company since we opened in 1997, and with our updated facilities and technology, we will be truly living up to our standard and motto of “modern moving with old fashioned care.” All My Sons knows we have satisfied many thousands of customers over the years – wait until you see us now! Experience fall moving with All My Sons of Chicago, your favorite local mover

Fall has come very early this year for Chicago! It’s been rainy and cold the last couple of weeks, but our staff’s sunny attitude will make your move worth your while. Our crews know the stress that planning for a move can cause, and we do all that we can to get your move done as quickly and efficiently as possible. We know our attitudes will be upbeat and helpful to assist you into getting in to the fun spirit of moving.

At some point, our staff at All My Sons has moved, whether it be out of our parent’s home, into a college dorm room, down the street, or to the apartment next door. We have experienced it all and know your situation. When you use All My Sons this fall, you can feel relieved that you have movers that know your type of move and will do it with an easy going attitude and who are comfortable in what they are doing. Let us help you get out of the dreary weather with a friendly and confident attitude.

All My Sons Chicago, local movers, advice to move your pet

Moving can be a stressful time, and it can be stressful for your pet too. Man’s best friend can feel the excitement and confusion of the normal belongings in a home being boxed up and moved around, and then adjusting to new surroundings. Making the trip to the new home as comfortable for your pet as possible is very important. We are unable to take care of the transportation of your pet for you on our trucks, and hope the following information will be a starting point for the safe and stress free transportation of your pet.

If you are moving a pet such as a dog, cat, rabbit, or a bird, there are several things to consider. For example, is your pet used to traveling in the car? Can they be comfortable sitting in a seat or in a crate without great anxiety? Will your car be used to transport your household items at the same time you will be transporting your pet? If so, will your pet be able to comfortably sit with the items without harm coming to either? If there is a bit of travel time between your old home and your new home, will they need water, food, or a bathroom break?

If you are moving fish, we can help you move the tank, but the fish and water need to be emptied from the tank prior to us arriving. They may need to be moved into a smaller tank or other fish safe and friendly container that can be transported in your vehicle without splashing; your local pet store will be able to provide you with the best advice on transporting fish.

If you are moving out of state and flying to your new destination, the American Moving and Storage Association (at moving.org) provides a link to Air Animal (http://airanimal.com/index.html), a service that can help in the transporting of your pet via airplane.

We know it’s a lot to consider, but your additional family member will appreciate your efforts more than you know!

All My Sons Chicago is "going green"

At All My Sons of Chicago, we understand the importance of going green. Even our logo has gone green! Okay, so really it’s been that way all along…but it definitely does go along with our mission to be responsible to the Earth. For instance, we are always recycling in the office. If an extra sheet of paper is printed, we cut it up to be scrap paper or we use the other side for printing things that stay in the office. When we bring our lunches to work, we bring them in lunch pails with silverware instead of brining them in a paper bag with disposable plastic utensils.

We also like to save fuel, and with fluctuating gas prices, who doesn’t? Many of our employees carpool or use the bus that comes right by our warehouse. Additionally, when the warehousemen are loading up a truck with storage, we have the trucks turned off.

Every night before we leave the office, all the lights and the computers are shut off. We also turn down the air conditioning or heat when we leave. Sure, it might be a little chilly when we arrive on a cold Chicago winter morning, but it’s nothing a sweater and flipping back on the heat can’t fix! We also keep the air conditioning and heat at a reasonable level when it’s on.

Have you tried going green? It’s really not all that hard when habits are changed. We do not even have to think about doing the green things we anymore – they’ve become such a part of our everyday habits, it’s just what we do.

Love,
Your responsible, Earth-friendly mover

Are you moving with small children? Let us help - we are your local family movers!

Are you a family with small children and you are moving? We know – it’s hectic. Raising small children is enough of a challenge in itself, and having to move your home on top of it can be stressful. We have found that it is easy to turn a stressful situation into one that can be fun for you and your kids! “How so?” you may ask. There are two easy options.

First option: If the kids are willing, get them involved! With careful guidance and monitoring, you can have your children help to pack the boxes in their rooms. Get them to pack their stuffed animals, their clothes, and soft goods like bedding. If you’re comfortable, give them a crayon or colored pencil (even washable marker if they’re careful) and have them mark up the boxes with their name or have them color on the boxes belonging to them. You can even turn it into a project and have them draw on the outside of the box what is on the inside of the box. Of course, leave the lamps and breakables for the adults to pack. While doing this, you can even have them gently help tape up the bubble wrap for the lamp – and if they’re really young, I can make you a bet that will be taped very funny and will get a laugh in the end. Kids love the responsibility of helping and doing “grown-up” responsibilities. When they are involved in seeing where all their toys and belongings are going, even they are relieved of stress. And when their brightly colored, custom designed boxes come off the truck, they will know exactly which ones are theirs and not be overwhelmed.

Second option: If the children are too young to be involved with the move, don’t be afraid to ask your family or friends for help! If they’re all of five months old, a visit to grandma can help you and the baby. The baby can have a nap, wonderful dreams of their new home, and get some grandmotherly love. You will have the peace of mind that your baby is quietly resting while you are in charge of telling the movers where to put your things in your new home. Once you’re set, you have a well rested baby in your new home with everything set in the place you want it!

Even if your child is old enough to participate in the move but is just not interested, there are no worries! Just having some of their favorite activities available for them to do come move day can mean a child who is occupied and happy. A book, a coloring book, or a handheld game may be the best option for your little one. Sometimes that can be the best stress relief and way to cope with a new situation for your child – you know them best, and whichever way helps you help them is the way to go.

We are a family owned, operated, and oriented business that loves to get your family moved. We move families every day and would enjoy meeting yours! Call us today to get set up with a move: 708-345-4200.

All My Sons, local mover in Chicago, attends the Illinois Special Olympics Ducky Derby

On Thursday, July 30th 2009, All My Sons Moving and Storage of Chicago attended the Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby in support of the Illinois Special Olympics. This was the 4th annual Ducky Derby, and All My Sons was proud to have 60 ducks racing this year. The day began in front of the Wrigley Building with family oriented events including booths, face painting, a moonwalk, and a chance to meet other supporters that came to the event.

The highlight of the day came when the truck load of ducks dove into the Chicago River off the Columbus Drive Bridge. Thousands of ducks took a leisurely float down to the finish line, and were cheered along by an enthusiastic group of supports hoping to see their duck win. Chicago owner Mark Doyle stated at the event: “The Illinois Special Olympics has created a wonderful event that raises awareness and money for a very worthy cause. We are happy to be able to support this organization that helps at the local Illinois level.”

All My Sons of Chicago loves supporting the Special Olympics because of their commitment to equality, fairness, inclusiveness, and understanding. With ethics and morals behind them, an organization such as the Special Olympics will continue to be a favorite charity of All My Sons of Chicago. All My Sons Storage versus self-storage

All My Sons Moving and Storage of Chicago has a safe, secure storage facility on site. We differ from self-storage in that our storage facility is not open for public access. Our storage is a big warehouse that is climate controlled. When you are looking to store your goods, we come to your house with an All My Sons truck and paper pad wrap and protect all of your goods. We also take a descriptive inventory of all your goods that are coming back into our storage. When we bring your things back to All My Sons, we put them in a five foot by five foot by ten foot crate, and labeled with your name and an identification number. The crate is sealed and carefully placed in our warehouse.
When you need your goods back, we set up a day to deliver them to you. We can store things as short as one day to as long as you may need it to be stored. We have customers that have been here in our storage over a period of years and use us for all their storage needs. Our storage eliminates public access near your goods. Professional movers store your goods into the crates, maximizing space efficiency and cutting down on the risk of damages.

Why choose All My Sons of Chicago?

All My Sons of Chicago is a premier local moving company in Chicago. We are licensed and insured and only have full time, professional employees who work directly for us. We understand the quality and service you expect from a local and long distance moving company, and we work to exceed your expectations.

Being in a bear economy, we understand that many of our customers are concerned about the cost of a move. We have competitive rates that are reasonable and fair for superior service over the competition. There are a lot of local moving companies in the Chicago area that will try and sell you at a very low rate - you should beware of companies like these! The low price is often a bait and switch tactic. They will either take an unusually long time to finish your move or employ nonprofessional movers who will likely cause damage to your goods since they will not know how to properly protect and pack your goods. Both of these things will cost you more money in the end. We are efficient movers who take care of you and your belongings. This is one of the reasons All My Sons has remained a successful local moving company, even in a dismal economy. This is how we save you money!

At All My Sons Moving and Storage of Chicago, we believe in providing you a service that you will be able to recommend to your family and friends. All My Sons Moving and Storage has been moving people locally and long distance for generations, and we take pride in knowing you are a satisfied customer.

Cold and snowy? Hot or rainy? No problem!

It is very cold today…to say the least! The last two days have been very frigid in Chicago and have tested even the hardiest of Chicagoans. With up to -40 degree wind chills in some of the outlying suburbs, some local Chicago movers may be hesitant to do business. However, All My Sons Moving and Storage is still doing plenty of local moving despite the nasty weather. We receive a lot of calls when unfavorable weather is looming and moving over the area, wondering if we will still arrive. The answer? Of course! We move locally and long distance in rain, shine, cold, and snow! We are a reliable local mover that will do the job right despite the weather.

Unfortunately, some other local companies will not move in inclement weather and may even cancel or not show up on the day your move. If you are ever faced with this situation and are in need of a local mover that you can rely on rain or shine, give us a call! As long as you are ready to move, we are here to be of service for you. We are careful to protect your furniture from the elements, especially if there is precipitation in the air. We have only professional, full time movers that work here at All My Sons, so they know how to move your goods in a safe and effective manner.

All My Sons, Better Business Bureau luncheon

The Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois, Inc. held the 2008 Annual Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics on Thursday, December 4, at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. This event recognized the winners and honorable mentions of this prestigious award presented to the companies best demonstrating overall ethical relationships with customers, employees, suppliers and vendors. All My Sons Moving & Storage, Inc., Chicago’s top choice for local movers, was proudly nominated for this award for the sixth consecutive year.

The luncheon event was hosted by Ron Magers, who is a co-anchor at ABC 7 Chicago. In attendance from All My Sons Moving was Mark Doyle, Michael Doyle and Vicki Contreras. All My Sons Chicago supported the event as a corporate sponsor along with some of Chicago’s other top leading companies.

All My Sons is an Accredited Business according to the standards of the Better Business Bureau since 1998, supporting their mission “To promote and foster the highest ethical relationship between businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer and business education, and service excellence.”

Use All My Sons for a safe, secure move

Thinking of moving yourself? Here’s how All My Sons makes your move safer than a self move!

When we do the heavy lifting, you have no risk of injury. Our professional local movers are trained professionals and they are covered by workman’s compensation insurance in case of injury. There is no risk on your part.

Our vehicles are safely equipped with moving pads and logistic straps, so your furniture is safe and secure when it is on its journey to your new destination. With a self move, you are not always guaranteed that equipment when renting a truck or using your friends SUV. Our moving vans are specially made for this type of work, so rest assured they are maintained in accordance with regulatory standards for key optimum performance and safety.

When you add up the costs of doing the move yourself, (rental truck, fuel, equipment, toll money, YOUR TIME, phone bills tracking down your friends on move day), you can be sure that your money might be spent more safely on letting the professionals at All My Sons Moving and Storage of Chicago handle your local move or even a long distance move!

Let us do the lifting and you eat the pizza yourself!

Packing Advice

Hello! This is Jessica again, and I would love to offer some packing advice in this blog. All My Sons can help you pack or you can pack your belongings yourself. Often customers will call and ask for packing advice and will wonder how much to pack in a box as well as what to pack in a box. The best overall answer I can always give for packing any sort of box is to never over pack or over stuff a box full of heavy items. It is amazing how quickly weight can accumulate in a box, especially if you are packing CDs, DVDs, books, and clothes. We recommend using a smaller box for items accumulate weight quickly when placed together. We have come across some moves where we encounter large boxes full of heavy items, and when they are attempted to be picked up, the bottom of the box is ready to break under all the weight. All My Sons offers a 1.5 cubic foot box that is perfect for packing such items. For bigger, bulkier, but lighter items such as comforters, pillows, and towels a large box around 4.5 cubic feet will often work. For most items in between, such as toys and kitchen appliances, a 3.0 cubic feet medium box will work.

All My Sons also offers specialty boxes. We can help pack items that will not normally fit into a regular, square box, like paintings and mirrors. Our mirror pack unfolds and can easily be shaped around unusual pieces. All My Sons also offers a strong, durable dish packs to pack all of your dishes and china. We recommend using newsprint (which is similar to the paper they use to print your newspaper on, but with no inks on it) or bubble wrap to help protect your glass dishware. For your clothing, we have wardrobe boxes that include a bar to hang your clothing and keep them on the hangar for easy transport to your new closet. All My Sons Chicago even offers four free wardrobe boxes on loan for your move day!

One of the most helpful tips we offer to customers when packing is to label everything! That way, when we are delivering you to your new residence, we can assist you in placing your boxes in the appropriate rooms. Often just a ?master bedroom? or ?kitchen? written on a box can save a lot of time when you are unpacking, because your boxes full of utensils can already be sitting in your kitchen waiting for you!

Additionally, use caution when packing items that might leak or spill when you pack them. For instance, if you pack your shampoo or liquid hand soap, put them on the top of the box where they will not be under a lot of pressure and spill their contents all over everything else in the box. It is often a good idea to wrap those types of items up in a plastic bag as well.

A lot of customers want to protect their large items (their couch, love seat, etc) just as they are protecting their smaller items in boxes. We are committed to handling your furniture with care, and we will pad wrap all your furniture accordingly for the move. This is a service we provide to you at no extra cost!

All My Sons can always help you with your packing needs, questions, and concerns. If you ever need help with your packing, we can provide it for you! For further questions, you can consult us by calling our office or using the following webpage as a reference:
